Introducing Mr Lockyer.

Hello Parents,

My name is Kyle Lockyer, and I am pleased to introduce myself to you, as I will be assisting in educating your children in Room 31 for the remainder of Term Two. I am currently finishing my Masters of Primary Education at the University of Notre Dame. I am very fortunate to be able to complete my internship at Wattle Grove Primary. Over the last two weeks I have spent at the school, I can see how fantastic and supportive the school community is. The students have been such a pleasure to know and teach.

For the remainder of the term, I will be using my knowledge and experience to assist the students in becoming not only academic superstars, but great people in the community. Year Six is such an important part of their schooling life, as they will be getting ready for the big wide world of high school. In saying this, Room 31, has already proven to have fantastic students with obvious bright futures ahead, and I am so pleased to be a part of it.

I look forward to meeting you all during my time here and please don’t hesitate to come in and have a chat.

Summer Carnival 2019.

 The Summer Carnival was held during Week Eight at Hartfield Park. The students competed in Cricket, Volleyball and Tee Ball. The students displayed an excellent level of sportsmanship and skill. Both Volleyball teams won their divisions. The Tee Ball A team were crowned champions in their division. The Cricket B team won their division. I would like to thank the staff and parents who gave up their time to train the students and coach on the day - Mrs Oliver, Mr and Mrs Thomas, Mr and Mrs Queiros, Mr Meachem, Mrs Lowther and Ms Balogh. Thank you to the parents who came down and supported the teams on the day.

 On Friday, the students dressed up in their Sunday best to raise money for the end of Year Six Graduation present to the school.

ANZAC Day Service 2019.

On the last day of Term One, we held our ANZAC Day Service with special guest, Lieutenant Mary-Rose Chapman from the Royal Australian Navy. Sienna and Shayla laid the wreath on behalf of Room 31. Melissa was involved with raising the flag during the ceremony. The Lieutenant later spoke to the senior students about her experiences in the navy.

A note from Mr Sherlock and Mrs Queiros.

We have been working hard on the learning program within the room. In Literacy, we have been focusing on writing Natural Disaster Reports and poems. We have been analysing poetry and looking at making inferences during reading sessions. Our focus for the last two weeks will be on the ANZACS and the World Wars. In Maths, we have been looking at Algebra, Special Numbers and we have now begun Fractions. In Science we have been focusing on Natural Disasters. Next week, we will be sitting the Principal Challenge Tests. We look forward to discussing your child’s progress in next Tuesday’s Parent Teacher Interviews. We both have thoroughly enjoyed the term and we are very grateful for the efforts from the students and for your wonderful support.

Senior Assembly Week Eight Term One.

Congratulations to Summer, Rhyanna, Kaity and Luke for receiving Merit Awards at the recent assembly.

Congratulations to Eli, Ruby, Makayla, Jai, Shayla, Riann, Steffi, and Jacob for being elected as Faction Captains for their various factions.

Harmony Day 2019 

During Week Seven, the whole school dressed up for Harmony Day in the national dress that reflected their cultural background. A huge thank you to the parents that helped the students with their costume. Mrs Randall produced a wonderful art installation for the day.

Last Friday, our classes held our assembly. Our item was based around the fact that it is cool to be intelligent. Mrs Queiros and I were so impressed with the efforts of the students. Your enthusiasm and the way you delivered your lines and danced was exceptional. Well done to the speakers and our assembly hosts. I would also like to thank the parents and guardians for the effort you put into preparing the student's costumes. We really appreciated Mr Sanderson writing the assembly item. We would like to thank our class for winning the Music and LOTE awards.
