Summer Carnival 2018.

Last Friday Wattle Grove competed in the Darling Range Learning Community Summer Carnival at Maida Vale Reserve. We competed in Tee-Ball, Volley Ball and Cricket. All of our sporting teams displayed and excellent level of skill and an outstanding level of sportsmanship. The Volley Ball A team and the Cricket B team won their divisions. I would like to thank Mrs Bothwell and Mrs Thomas for coaching the Tee-Ball teams, Mrs Queiros and Mrs Lowther for coaching the Volley Ball teams and Mr Queiros and Mr Teale for coaching the Cricket teams. A huge thank you to Mrs Oliver for all of her help on the day.

Harmony Day 2018.

Last Wednesday, Wattle Grove celebrated Harmony Day. The school held a parade in the Undercover Area. Room 27 paraded around in national dress with our Buddy Class, Room Five. Thank you to the parents who helped with the costumes. Ms Randall created some wonderful dream catchers as well.

On Friday, we met our buddies from Room Five for the first time this year. Our buddy class for this year is Miss Baines' Pre - Primary class. Our first activity for the year ties in with Harmony Day, which the school is recognising this coming Wednesday. We made a flag that represented our cultural background. We look forward to working with our buddy class throughout the year.

WACA Cricket Clinic.

On Thursday March 15, Angun from the WACA, came to our school to conduct a cricket clinic. She focused on batting and bowling techniques, throwing and run outs. The students had a fantastic time. Thank you to Mrs Oliver for organising the clinic.

Science Plant Investigation.

The students have started a tomato plant growing investigation. One group had the task of adding a salt solution to their plant. Their plant did not survive more than a week. They will now look at the growth of a control plant. Other variables groups are looking at are: the use of fertiliser, the amount of water and light used and different soil types. Each group is responsible for watering their plants, monitoring their variables, making observations and recording and graphing their results. The students will then produce a final report which will include the conclusions they have arrived at.

Room 27 and Room Eight's Assembly.

Last Friday, our classes held our assembly. Our item was based around Convict Australia. Ms Martin and I were so impressed with the efforts of the students. Your enthusiasm and the way you delivered your lines and danced was exceptional. Well done to the speakers and our assembly hosts. I would also like to thank the parents and guardians for the effort you put into preparing the student's costumes. Ms Martin wrote our wonderful item, thank you. I will look forward to visiting Mr Sanderson in Fremantle Prison as he will be there doing some hard labour.

 Congratulations to Elice for being awarded the Values Award. She has been respectful to staff and her peers. She has demonstrated kindness and patience towards her fellow students.

Room 27 Class Meeting.

Last Tuesday, we held our first class meeting for the year. We discussed a range of agenda items that affected the school. As a class we all voted on an agenda item that our Student Representatives discussed at the Student Council Meeting.
