NAIDOC Incursion.
Last Friday, we had our NAIDOC incursion with Leonard
Thorne, a Noongar man from Boddington. We learnt about the bush environment and
how animals needed each other to survive. If you kill too many animals of the
same species, the animals that feed on that species would have to change their
diet to survive. Leonard talked about how Aboriginal people are connected
through their totems. Then we did a little activity about how animals and
plants are connected through a food web. Leonard showed us a table with
weapons, sticks, plants, foods, animals eggs (pretend ones) and much more. He
spoke about how important Aboriginal Law is and the need for kids to listen to
their elders. We sang nursery rhymes in Noongar language. Then we asked
questions and he answered them all. We all had a really great time.
