Year Six Kalgoorlie Camp 2019.

The Year Sixes went to Kalgoorlie for their camp on Monday November 4 to Friday November 8, 2019. The camp was very successful and the students thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We all took part in gold panning near Coolgardie with everyone striking it rich. We participated in historical visits to Coolgardie and the Kalgoorlie and Boulder Town Halls. We visited Hannan’s North Tourist Mine to watch a gold pour. The students went on a bus tour of the Kalgoorlie Super Pit and we visited the Royal Flying Doctor service. The group had a swim at the Goldfields Aquatic Centre and we played Two-Up out in the bush. Thank you to Mrs Lowther, Mr Sanderson, Mrs Queiros, Ms Balogh and Mrs Belcher for all of their assistance on camp. We would like to Mr Meachem and Mrs Street for all of their efforts with the planning and organisation of the camp. Thank you also to Ms Roberts for allowing us to have this wonderful opportunity.

Learning Journeys 2019.

We conducted our learning journey in the last week of Term Three.  A huge thank you to all the parents and caregivers for attending. It was great to see the students sharing their achievements with their parents and caregivers.

Interschool Carnival 2019

During Week Nine, Wattle Grove Primary School competed against five other schools in the Darling Range Network Interschool Carnival. It was a great 2 days spent competing in long distance running, long jump, turbo javelin, division races and team games. The children from Wattle Grove displayed amazing sportsmanship and their behaviour across the two days was to be commended. All athletes competed to a very high standard, which saw Wattle Grove declared as the overall winner of the carnival. Congratulations to the several students who walked away with Championship trophies and medals. Ruby from Room 31 was crowned Champion Year Six Girl.

STEM Makey Makey

As part of our Science program, students have enjoyed using the electronic invention kit called 'Makey Makey'. We have been using different materials and identifying conductors to control a program on the computer. The students have had a lot of fun with this whilst learning about electrical circuits and some computer coding.

Faction Carnival 2019

We held our amazing Athletics Carnival during Week Seven, with events held on both Wednesday and Friday. All competitors showed great sportsmanship and their behaviour was outstanding. A huge thank you to all the parent volunteers, teachers, judges and scorers across the two days. At the end of the day, only one faction could be victorious and that honour went to Purple Faction.

The following children from Room 31 demonstrated excellence in their events and were awarded Champion and Runner-Up Champion trophies and medals;
Senior Champion Girl: Ruby Henshall
Senior Runner-Up Champion Girl: Makayla Jeffery.
